WW has worked with Downer Group for over a decade, delivering digital marketing strategy and execution across their core operations and subsidiaries including VEC Civil Engineering, AE Smith, Defence and Spotless. On top of building and maintaining their primary website and mobile app, we’ve led targeted campaigns in paid and organic search, recruitment-focused email marketing and social media. Our work keeps Downer’s digital presence visible, consistent and secure, supporting immediate needs and long-term reputation.

Helping Downer Group get their products found on Google

Downer sought to improve visibility for key products including HaulPac, EcoPrime and Reconophalt. WW led a targeted SEO and search advertising program, combining keyword strategy, metadata optimisation, internal linking and content design. HaulPac moved from an unrecognised term to first position on Google, overcoming previous autocorrection issues. EcoPrime was brought from invisibility to the first page with a dedicated landing page and optimised content. Reconophalt maintained its leading position. Paid search via Google Ads delivered over 21,000 impressions and 1,300 clicks, reinforcing organic gains with short-term reach.

Email marketing for recruitment

WW developed and deployed a series of recruitment-focused email campaigns to support Downer’s ongoing workforce needs. Campaigns were designed to re-engage previously unsuccessful applicants, promote new opportunities, and reach passive candidates in specific regions and job families. Each campaign was structured to match the recipient’s experience level and location, using tailored messaging and clear calls to action. Email layouts were designed for accessibility and performance, ensuring delivery across devices and platforms.

Targeted recruitment through social media

Social media activity was also focused on recruitment outcomes. WW worked closely with Downer’s internal teams to run highly targeted campaigns through LinkedIn, tailored to specific roles, skillsets and locations. We also developed re-engagement strategies for candidates who had previously applied but were unsuccessful. Video creative was tested across variations to understand what drove the strongest response. These campaigns enabled Downer to reach a wider and more relevant talent pool, combining paid and organic efforts to maintain visibility and encourage applications across the group.
